These Lite Flite balls are great for practice whether it's inside a gym or outside on the field. The great thing is while they are generally softer and have less weight than a real baseball, they still do have SOME weight to them. I would say the weight feels somewhere between a wiffleball and an "incrediball" as they are called. They really travel when hit and are generally easy to throw. I would suggest taking a look at them in a sporting good store first to make sure they are what you're looking for in a practice ball but I doubt you would be disappointed.
