My mat arrived and indeed, it doesn't smell vinyl-y like most of the mats out there. The vinyl ones are probably more sanitary for use by multiple people, but for one-person use, I appreciate not having the stinky off-gassing and being able to just put a towel over the mat if desired for keeping it cleaner. (The roll-up yoga mats are an option too, but this is nice because you can fold it up and lean it against a wall).
A note: I wouldn't recommend this as a guest bed/mattress-- just as an exercise mat as advertised-- because the foam is too firm and sort of crunchy-feeling for that use.Get more detail about Tri-Fold Deluxe Folding Exercise Mat.
